Could someone explain the point of meter in poetry if you have enjambment? If you have to enjamb all your lines maybe you shouldn't work in a rigid meter structure.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what's the difference between prose and non-rhyming, enjambed poetry?

Both can have deeper meaning, select words of phrases for aesthetic content, and so on. It seems that the only difference is that the poetry has an arbitrary meter that doesn't really serve any purpose.

How do I read poetry? Is there like a beginner's guide or some shit? Because right now it seems like:
Regular prose
that some asshole divided
into separate lines
for no
reason.
