>Are you going to talk about death or are you going to tell me where did you get the idea that life is inherently blissful and peaceful?
Even Death is blissful, in all forms for all life exists in its totality as an expression of the manifold wills that impose itself upon the experienced. Life is excess manifest, by nature delectable unto its conclusion in which the procresses which fuelled it repeat themselves endlessly. And life in particular is unrestrained and will repeat itself forever into the abyss of time, transforming that otherwise stagnant. In life the anticipation of the future exists foremost, and is defined by escaping the prisons of the past and current - will serving as that exceptional force.

I buy several books a month that I never read, but I go through them and dog ear random pages to make it look like I've read them. Then I just leave them on my shelf so if anyone comes over it looks like I've read hundreds of books in detail. In reality I haven't read a book all the way through in years, I just read wikipedia and online summaries.

Edgy kids with a vague interest in abstract imagery and occultism?

You're looking for Georges Bataille.

Georges Bataille's "Inner Experience". I read that a few years ago and am only now beginning to recover from it. What a bleak view on the world! Not as self-indulgent as Cioran either.

Bataille was a librarian for most of his life, so it's pretty nonacademic, and whatnot.
