Hey, /lit/. I've recently read Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brian. I need to do an essay in which to compare aspects of it with another war novel. It's for my Extended Essay, in the IB program, if anyone is familiar with that.

I started reading Going After Caciatto, by the same author, but I'm not really feeling it. I basically neeed to write an essay on a specific subject of my choice, such as analysing the narattive aspects of the books, or the way in which they depict war, etc.

If anyone could recommend me a book that would go well with The Things They Carried, it would be much appreciated.

I brought up some really good points about this book in high school. Everyone else was off the obligatory Great Gatsby hype and nobody really cared about this book. This is probably one of my favorite books but beating it to death with analysis kind of ruined it for me.

Read it in high school and it's still my favorite.Far from the best writing style/prose/whatever, but hit me harder emotionally than any other book has.
