Liberalism has alienated people from the idea of self-restraint and human nature. The longer surahs are kino if you see it from a larger perspective. The first Surah, Al-Baqarah, is mainly a law book but the subtext is the replacement of God's chosen nation from the sons of Israel to the Muslim ummah. It offers an explanation as to why the last prophet is an Arab instead of a Jew. It explains the injustice commited by the Jews before Muhammad's time. It even communicates directly with Jews and Christians saying many times, "O Children of Israel, remember My favour which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant that I shall fulfill your covenant and fear Me.". All this happens in the middle of text, indicating a ring structure and filtering out those who are, as Allah puts it, "deaf, dumb and blind"
