Gentlemen,

Need I remind all of you that the work has been Properly Analyzed by the Greatest Literary Thinker of the 20th Century?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cuccco2umo

Having brought your attention to this, no further attempts at "analysis" is necessary on your parts. Please, all of you, cease posting. Thank you.

I'm looking for a short story to use a s a kind of template for my own. This one is about a guy in purgatory who meets a figure that can traverse through the plains of existence and affect light changes in those living. The guy turns out to be santa or at least something like him. Always being offered a place in heaven though continually turning it down because he can do nothing from there.
Anyone know the name of such a story? If not, short story general.

Literature began and ended with modernism.

Discuss.

>At first it's elusive as hell, but once Stephen starts to develop mentally, it goes through some very well rendered (if fairly standard) buldinsroman tropes. Especially the little creative epiphanies he has along the way, which feel vital and at times, even beautiful almost a century later. There is a lot of mucking about with nascent catholic guilt, and the various kinds of guilt that arise from blindly accepting, fighting and eventually rejecting said catholic guilt. I felt like there might also have been a whole layer of classical allusions which I'm just not educated enough to get, what with the little quips in latin and all. I like Stephen Daedalus, but I didn't find myself genuinely caring about his ambitions and insecurities the way I did with the characters in Dubliners.

I attempted to read out of doors once and once only. The sounds of children "playing", wind blowing the pages askew, pollen molesting my olfactory nerves, and hooligans racing by in their wretched automobiles and referring to me as a bundle of sticks made it all but impossible.

Oh god. The guy is 82, though. Can't blame him for looking old.

Have some young Bloom.

I know, I pointed out it was staged when it first appeared. Link to the archived thread and I'll show you my post.

It is staged. Everything about it is obviously staged. It is obviously staged and satirizing /lit/.
The person in the picture is a /lit/ poster. He has written for TAR. All those books were chosen because they are discussed on /lit/. He is doing an impression of Harold Bloom.

Normally he does not pose like that, nor does he write like that. The person with the Moroccan IP must have known this. It was either a proxy or a friend posting it from Morocco to provide him with an alibi.

That is not a difficult thing to arrange, he is more than intelligent enough to have done.

No doubt a it's successful troll, but it's shitposting at this point. The longer this thread stays up, the more it gets reposted, the more obviously it is him or one of his friends posting it. Internet famous.

It's a bold statement about how the one that hurts us most is often ourselves. We, the people of /lit/, are self-devouring cannibals.
