So, metaphysics is the study of the things about reality that don't change. Fir example, the relationship between big and small as concepts produces the idea of size. This relationship is metaphysical because it cannot change. A universe where big exists always contains small as well.

Physics and other branches of science deal with dynamical systems that contain within themselves the inherent property of change over time. Philosophy also deals with what we call objects, when we call them what we call them, and how what we call them can change depending on context.

They're also likely to be the types of people who say "I don't need to learn Old English, because it's not relevant today" when referring to Early Modern English.
