It's about a narcissistic, liberal mother and the result of her being so.

It's about two brothers.
Hugo, the main character cannot control his addiction to sex and tries to sleep with underage girls whilst he completely abandons his own son to grow up unloved.
But Hugo is a complex character and against all odds you kinda end up liking him around half way through and pitying his shitty existence by the end since he had a uncomfortable upbringing to.
It's a really sad book and the only one I've read where I felt the author knew what it is like to be human.
I'd highly recommend it.

Houllebecq obviously. Shoegaze went a step too far. High point of the genre was Galaxie 500's On Fire

Just get a picture of a need broad on your book.

Also how are you /ic/gd/ without knowing how to design a book cover? 101 mate.

When I was 14 my parents took me to one of those awful all-inclusive hotels in Corfu. My sister shared a room with my mum, and I had to share one with my dad.

Every single day for two weeks, while they were lounging by the pool and drinking their free all-inclusive drinks, I went back to the room and beat off to the cover of this book.

Have you ever read a book which you thought was extremely edgy in a way that cinema/tv can't be?

Sometimes when I'm reading a book the chracters / situation feel find of sincere, so I imagine normalfags reading the book with me and then pitying me for liking it because it's like I'm a no-friends loser who's yearning for a quirky-world-with-pixie-people sort of thing. (In the same way I would never admit to liking Drive irl. I'm an ugly no friends loser, so people would instantly assume that I fantasise about being the Driver). I don't read "quirky" YA btw, I just feel that many books don't depict people talking to each other like normalfags.

But when I read The Elementary Particles / Atomised (pic related), or also 4chan, these are so edgy that I would have much less embarrassment in liking them. When Houellebecq writes a passage about Negros having inferior brains, and how he wants to fuck lots of women, it puts the reader (me) on some kind of edginess platform, where I can't be criticised for liking it. Yeah it's racist / sexist, but the edges of pop-culture already touch on this sort of thing (eg. Sickipedia or edgy comedians). I feel like the normalfags will eventually head there anyway, so I'll just feel good about being there first.
