I'm looking for /lit/ that gives an experience similar to Attack on Titan. Is pic related what I'm looking for?

Why is Sanderson rated so high? Everywhere I go people rate his books as excellent and 'the best fantasy has ever conceived', yet for what little I've read I think his books are actually just average. To me they are the Marvel of literature flooded with OK prose (at best), mediocre humour and an overly 'epic' tone that doesn't fit the narrative it tries to depict. Are current standards this low or I'm being an e/lit/tist?

I just bought The Way of Kings because it was recommended by an author I like. I'm excited for a long series to dig my teeth into. I'll let you know what I think of the series in approx. 6 years. Please remember this post.

Has anyone here read The Way of Kings by Sanderson? A friend gave it to me as a gift a few years ago and I'm wondering if it is worth getting into. I mean it's >1200 pages and I really don't want to waste that much time if it's garbage, especially after reading all the 'Sanderfag is a hack' posts in every thread

What’s a fantasy book that doesn’t feel like it was written for adhd-addled marvel fans, looking at you Sanderson.

I like Pratchett, Tolkien and I enjoyed the character dynamic in Locke Lamora, give me some recs, a bonus if the prose isn’t shit.

What does /lit/ think of this? I’m not much of a fantasy guy other than lotr and discworld, but my roommate lent this to me and I just finished it.

Is it just me or does this read like an anime? Something about fighting in zero g with power armor and lightsabers is trite to me. I’ve also realized that I dislike this buzzword “magic system”, magic should be mysterious and intrinsic to the world, not some video game power fantasy, or some sort of autistic pseudo-physics.
