How do you know if you are smart enough to take a bachelors degree in philosophy or literature?

So theres this book I read when I was in my teens that i really liked but can't remember the name of or the author.
It's a book about an old, ex nazi living in the US who befriends a neighbour kid and they do stuff or something.
I was pretty sure that it was a Stephen King book because I read alot of his stuff back then back to back. But when I check wikipedia, I can't find any of his books fitting that description.

Hi /lit/ I love writing poems and songs but everytime I re-read them they seem like emo bullshit. So, any advice on songwriting?

I'm doing a presentation in my Shakespeare- Late Play class tomorrow, and it has to be on something related to King Lear. I've only read half the play (since the class was assigned to start reading the play by Wednesday). I spoke with my professor and he told me it's fine that I focus on something earlier on in the play. Any suggestions about a presentation topic? I was thinking about relating the queenship (I guess that's the right term for it) of Lear's daughters to women's rights during the time (how much power they actually had). I know it's not a very good topic, but does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can narrow that topic or find a better one?

What do you guys think of Chuck Palahniuk? I heard all of you hate him, but I found Choke and Survivor to be good novels. I'm curious to hear you're opinions either way.

So I have a writing assignment due tomorrow and i had to write a beast fable, never wrote one and unsure of how mine is, well here it is tell me what you think
One day as the sun was coming up, Baby Lion woke up and saw his father, as always loafing about. Playing. As he eagerly jumped towards his siblings he heard a howl over the horizon. As quick as it appeared it disappeared, in an instant Father Lion called to his cubs to return. “Cubs, for the first time in your lives you will be in danger, do as I tell you and hide, hide in the best possible way, and do not peek.
