I finished this book about 4 days ago. Can we please have a conversation about it? What are your thoughts? What questions reading this book have you raised? Did you read it again? If not, do you plan on doing so? Do you also feel like this book is now a part of you for the rest of your life?

I want more books like this, it's not quite magical realism, yet it has that same feel. I have all of his other books as well, the only one that comes close is The Savage Detectives.

This is a 900 pg book that follows in the footsteps of Proust and Joyce in trying to capture their generation's culture in one massive tome. It was published after he died in I think 2004. Bolaño even stated himself on his deathbed that he never got to revise a single page. This first draft work is already considered canon by critics in multiple languages.

2666, it's about mass killings of women in some border town in Mexico that is somehow connected to scholars trying to unmask some enigmatic German author. 900 pgs long but reads easy besides the sentences that last 2-3 pages.

How did you feel after finishing this?

Just finished Part 2. Pretty good so far but I feel like I'm a brainlet/autist since it hasn't struck me quite as dramatically as it has its supporters. Excited to keep reading though.
