I have a huge urge to flee from this completely cucked materialistic world and the damage it does to the soul. I aspire to the path of spiritual presence of God toward the real Goal. At this point it feels like I'm unable to do anything else

I'm french, what possibilities do I have (in France or in a country to expatriate to) ?
Do you know possibilities, spiritual masters, ashrams/monasteries,... ?
Did some of you got initiated ? I know the ones who have the chance to follow a spiritual path would most likely not post here but anyway, maybe you gathered experience outside of books.
What in your case is the relation between books, engagement and also spirituality ?

I fear buddhism as it seems pozzed now (I am not completely closed though) and I can't be a good christian because I don't adhere to Christ's exclusivism.
I thought about becoming a pilgrim by foot towards India but all the visa thing makes it more difficult.
