It's getting cold and damp where I live. Finally the world mirrors my mind. I feel the coldness of bare existence very distinctly, like the air from another planet. Empty space, tired mind.

Is reading books inherently reactionary? We're clinging to a medium that is already on its way out, and what's more we read books that most readers can't even stand. The idea of spending hours alone in silence with only the book and your own thoughts for company is incredibly alien for people born after 1985 or so. Maybe some would point to YA as a counterexample, but pulp and trashy novels have been around for centuries, it's just now they're experiencing a bit of a renaissance after tv wiped them out starting in the 1940s.

When I read poetry I feel like I'm walking back in time, and there's a sharp feeling of loss that comes with every good stanza because the world that produced great poetry is gone. Eventually there will only be fragments left, and eventually there will not even be fragments but only a name in an index, and in time even the index will disappear.

One of the first papers I have for an honors Philosophy course this semester is answering the question: "What would you die for?"

Which philosopher should I study to knock the fuck out this question and leave the professor astounded? What would be your answer to this question /lit/?
