My mother constantly told me to shut up and pretty much avoided any prolonged conversation with me. Ironically she always wanted me to accompany everywhere. And dad quite literally built a study for himself so that he can shut himself away from the family. This didn't help when I hit puberty and became deadly afraid of conversations with people. And that, left me pretty much without any "true" friendships in my class, nor a girlfriend for all of high school.

But I've made progress in overcoming that. I began to hit the gym and willed myself to approach and speak with people. I don't want to be a victim that blames all of his problems on his parents and then does nothing about it.

Remember bros, social skills are SKILLS. Although you may be shit at it, all it takes is a single encounter to make things EXTRAORDINARILY easier afterwards. Don't be a victim. People are always preoccupied with themselves, which is something you must also do. Help yourself. Educate yourself. Look into your own problems and solve them. Not only will you find fulfillment, but also people to share that fulfillment with.
