>imagine if you had millions of iphones and internet servers (and electricity producers) and you travelled back to ancient Rome. And traveled to the middle ages, and gave he majority of people Iphones. What do you think would happen? What would you complain about?
I'd complain about ahistorical thought experiments. I think a lot of my currently held notions would be mooted if a time machine existed.

When Felix Brutus shored his foot on the pebbly sand of the great British coastline the island was thenceforth communist until the advent and primacy of trade guilds. Was the pyramid of Akhenaten a communist venture given the complete government control of the process? Did the communist Indus River Valley civilisation collapse into the sieve of history because it's priesthood was too busy singing the internationale when the invisible hands of the market were throwing gang signs?
The comment I reply to is inconsequential, but it legitimately reveals a trend of jigsaw-puzzle rhetoric that steamrolls nuance in favor of calling Tsar Nikolai II a tragic hero who would have totally been prepared for the rise of numerous offensive attacks on Russia from the south and east without the contribution of the Bolsheviks which were, btw, constitutive of Petrograd's democratic majority. The Bolsheviks held so much popular favor that the provisional government had to release the Bolshevik Siberian exiles.

Stalinism is another beast altogether. Does a project intended toward communism deserve the title of existent communism? This is an historical discussion. What is not up for debate is whether or not China is even attempting a communist project in the slightest. They are not.
