Several recommendations from 'respectable' publications, perhaps, but no blurb to actually tell you what the book is ABOUT. How arrogant / foolish is this?

Can be your own bookshelf, your reads so far this year, an interesting book picture, anything.

I managed about 150 pages, then just gave up. I might pick up my copy again though. Is it worth the slog? Even for a 19th century novel, it's hard going and stodgy. People say it's the Great American Novel, though.

What a great novel, definitely in my top 20, and maybe my top 10 as well. So enjoyable to read, and clearly very rereadable.

AKA Wallace's worst work. Fuck micro-fiction, fuck badly written stories, fuck short books, fuck this.

Short stories - weird and good. Novels - bad and annoying. Can we agree on this, /lit/?

Made me laugh. XKCD is like the literary scene of the webcomic world anyway, because it's so smart, like, Pynchon smart.

I was looking forward to reading this, since I've been back reading Different Seasons recently, and it was fairly boring. Just...poor writing and content. Movie was better (apart from their neckbeard Wil Wheaton).

This pic I sorta like, though not much. Her boobs are too pointy, and she looks pyscho.

I like this one. although there are several weird things about the picture.



1. Her boobs are pointy.
2. She looked stoned or insane in some poses.
3. Her dress is old (but nice).

Socially: to clubs, to parties, to pubs and bars and taverns, for afternoons down the park, etc. I'm curious as to their popularity, or low amount of, and whether they want to go out with, you know...civilians.

I guess for me it was both.

Not as good as One Day, better than Starter For Ten. It's got the same semi-pulpy feel, funny humour, series of bad things happening to the main character, etc. The in-your-face humour still annoys me, as does the slightly large print size, but this seems alright. Or at least, I could read it for 5 hours straight when I first got it.
