No, not necessarily, but the path of salvation is certainly less sure than inside the Catholic Church. The intellectual tradition of Aristotle, Augustine and Aquinas, and later the writings of Newman and Chesterton, converted me- I went to a Baptist church for several years, then a Methodist church and briefly an Anglican/Episcopal Church before finally finding the fullness of Truth in Catholicism. And the depth of my faith is certainly much greater and richer now, as is the ferocity of my love for Jesus. The mystical tradition of Catholicism is really terrific, too- Theresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Terese of Lisieux, books like the Imitation of Christ and the Interior Castle... My prayer life is significantly deeper and more nuanced than before, and I have had a number of spirotual experiences in prayer which has solidified my faith. But faith came first, as usual.
