I actually lived in soviet Russia in my childhood in the 1990's. I member going to school but never being taught wrong information simply for political gain.

I also still had parents and grandparents and uncles and aunts who would tell me about the old tsar's and Russian history.

To compare this current american world of hegemony control to soviet russia would not be accurate at all.
