You're right, most people do call a more complex set of functions 'consciousness', but those people are wrong, that is the point I am trying to make. Why do we link complex functions with an arbitrary term like 'consciousness' when in fact it correlates more with intelligence.

I'm trying to say that rather than spend time trying to figure out what consciousness is and trying to label beings as having a certain level of it, as if we were on some sort of fucking Joe Rogan podcast, we should take a more materialistic view and look at what the input and outcome is. The mental input changes depending on the complexity of the task but because the output of contentment is the same across the board, are we really that different to other beings?
