what did he mean by this

Can anyone recommend literature that touches on, describes, or analyzes suicide?

I think contemplating taking your own life is something that every human being at some point has to do, and despite this universality the only times I feel like it's discussed outside of news of someone's suicide is either in an insincere/ironic jokey manner or in a hushed stigmatized tone. I want a text about a dude thinking to himself or two dudes just sitting and openly talking to each other about the idea of taking their own lives.

Would prefer if it wasn't just some shrink professional textbook about psychoanalyzing the reasoning behind suicide or something. I just want an examination of suicide from the everyman character's eyes.
