I’m overwhelmed by how many belief systems there are. Science, philosophy, religion, how can anyone make a decision? There are tons of books written by various authors that all seem to make sense, yet they can’t all be true. Even if it were the case that one system were the most logical, how could we trust in logic to begin with? Why should we assume humans can apprehend the true nature of the universe? Every subject is filled with debate, even the most objective seeming systems like mathematics. I thought that I understood the famous saying,” I know that I know nothing” but now I understand it more. Isn’t all discourse and argument ultimately just entertainment?

Now, it seems as though I have the freedom to believe in anything. But I’m stuck in the center, with no net force to pull me in any direction. And I don’t even know if this should be considered good or bad. Even if the world were meaningless, wouldn’t that, then, be its meaning?

So the ultimate question is, “What do I do?”
At this point, it seems most practical to simply improve myself physically, mentally, and socially. Yet, I don’t know what the goal of all that effort would be.
