Is there fantasy fiction out there that starts at the very beginning of "time"? There is always at least some history, some wars that have been fought, some societal structure has been laid out, et cetera. What about a story that doesn't skip the parts that come before that, is there something like that out there?

The ships and the 'motherships' that the baby ships dock in are alien. There's mystery/unease in terms of the baby ships being mysterious and impossible to fully control, and the book talks about alien architecture and artifacts (admittedly this is all pretty boring; those weird artifacts they find are never cool or spooky and the 'tunnel' architecture of the motherships and within some of the planets is nothing special either)

You can definitely argue it doesn't fit the criteria I suppose
