What is a proper definition of the term 'religion' that accounts for the diversity of religious thought out there? I'm struggling with this because thanks to pantheism I can't say it's a worldview that specifically deals with the immaterial. Help me out /lit/

When did mainstream Christianity lose the concept of the "New Heavens and the New Earth" and consider the Christian endgame to be Heaven? Did it change in the Reformation?

Anons, please tell me how classical and medieval thinkers reasoned that God is what we all search for? I've heard people saying art's values from from expressing the inexpressibility of God, that in our daily life we find solace in God. Much of this goes without talking or assume the idea of "Heaven". What is this that people seek that they call God? Why call it God?

This and "Grace" I never really understood.

Explain the purpose of Virtue Ethics to me.

How are the virtues discerned?
What was their argument for adhere to them and conforming your life to them?
Do they have limits? (Killing if it would save lives?)

What was the transition period between Medieval Aristotelian view that there is a good life worth seeking and, once found, should be spread to the masses and the common view now that people should simply live as they want and find their own way?

Did the latter come about in a reactionary way or was there an actual refutation of Aristotle's view?

>Is the reason these things were created by God because they serve a greater purpose in the universe?
Yes, as that's the general point you get from Job and the main answer to the problem of evil. Several popes have used this argument too.

>Can we say that Judas wasn't right but Judas' betrayal was still important and somehow 'good'?
We can, but we can also say the lessons learned and the shock from it were also good. The issue with the "all things happen for a reason" argument people use is they think they are ruining it by stopping it from happening when the resulting effects of the perceived bad thing and what it brings can be part of the reason why the perceived bad event occurs.
