I've begun writing what I assume will be a novella about a bookish, quiet man who can only interact with the world properly through academia, literature and the internet. He is unfulfilled and feels as though he is a ghost in the background of the world. He meets a man of the opposite character - a man of action, all muscles and striving and sex - and they become friends. The bookish man becomes obsessed with the idea of the masculine represented in his friend. His friend dies in a tragic accident of some sort and this causes the bookish man to question his beliefs about masculinity before finally coming to the conclusion that a tragic end is the only end a man of action could ever have, that it was in fact such an end that sets him apart from all the men of earth.
its gonna be really homoerotic, but there will be a female love interest for the both of them. Its set in modern times in a little town around a university where the bookish man is studying.
