Why isn't it required reading in all schools?

I always knew racism was factually incorrect but I never knew why.

To the point it's now used for trolling purposes.

Hey, guys. A friend lent me his copy of Guns, Germs, and Steel after strongly recommending and encouraging me to read it. Thing is I don't normally read non-fiction and usually lose interest after a few chapters.

So is this worth investing my time into?

Shogun & A Game of Thrones are personal favorites, but that's just at the moment. It's like trying to pick your favorite child.

are there any other such books? I know this one is particular, the author even got the prize, yet maybe anything else similar to this? really interesting about science and nice written?

I am around page 200, and it just hasn't appealed to me. I have two essays on it due in a few weeks.
