Do bad writers gravitate toward science fiction and fantasy or do the genres lend themselves to bad writing?

>this mad over a translated quote from Politics
You can remove "masculine" and "feminine" and the book still gives the same message here. Why don't you explain why Greek democracy and republicanism, and even tyranny, is different than our conception of them? If you're just ironic, you'll never convince anyone of anything.

Fact: Non-Indo European literature is inherently inferior to Indo-European lit. Chinese or Japanese could never hope to attain the height of English, French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, German, Indian or Persian literature. Because they write and speak in a tongue that is inherently inferior.

The minimum requirement (assuming you know English) for being /lit/ should be knowing French, German, Latin, and two other languages of your choice (be it Greek, Classical Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Russian, etc). Most great writers were multilingual and this used to be the standard just over a century ago. No whining. Get to it, fags.

As a reader, I stop reading as soon as metaphors start showing up. Metaphors are a HUGE turn off.

I personally find that authors who rely heavily on metaphors tend to do so because they have little creative ability when it comes to plots, worldbuilding, and fleshing out characters, so they try to cover it up by tossing flowery phrases at the reader, in the hopes that the reader won't notice the lack of plot, lack of worldbuilding, and lack of realistic/believable characters.

Writers who use metaphors are incapable of creating things on their own and feel the need to steal from others.

In case you didn't know, plagiarism is illegal and comes with a $25k fine and up to 50 years in prison. You might want to consider that the next time you write a metaphor.

it's baffling how anons like this >>18160401 rely and model their worldview based on ready-made ideas from long ago. It's cool that thinkers from the past were prescient in some of their analysis and predicted that our current paradigm would undergo a crisis, but their adherents never follow up on it. Western civilisation has reached its height and has ossified; what now? Anons are just passively waiting for stuff to happen as if they're inside a theatrical piece.

Plato, St. Augustine, Descartes, Rousseau, Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche were the best prose stylists in philosophy.
