To Esteban!

Hey fren, listen to the anon telling you to read the Iliad, it’s good advice. If you want some easy starting literature, try some Dumas, if you can’t read french get the Buss translations.
Also, you should keep a journal, it helps organise your thoughts and express yourself, you don’t need to write in it everyday, but try to find enough in life to comment on :).

>we are not happy people, nor healthy souls, and the best day of any of our lives will most likely be the day god deigns to let us out of this plane
Speak for yourself, I was somewhat happy when I came to /lit/ but through /lit/‘s encouragement to read more and read better quality I am very happy, art and philosophy can be truly fulfilling.

>>favorite novel
The Master and Margarita
>>favorite non-fiction book
Ethica
>>favorite author
Melville for his opus (Moby Dick is my favourite fiction book but it isn’t truly a novel like you asked for, too much of it is non-narrative to be best described as a novel) Shakespeare overall in fiction.
Spinoza and Aristotle likewise for non-fiction.
>>favorite game
The one you just lost.

>>favorite movie
I don’t watch many movies, the only ones I rewatch have to be very comfy; let’s say American Psycho.
>>favorite series
The Life of Mammals: the most patrician pick for Attenborough-kino
I don’t watch many shows though, with so many lectures available online there’s little point.
>>favorite food
Tournedos Rossini, particularly with souffléd potato crisp

>>favorite collection of poems (which OP didn't include because he's a faggot)
Leaves of Grass
>>favorite poet (which OP didn't include because he's a faggot)
Virgil

I’ll add my own things that OP should add if he’s going to include stuff like movies
>favourite piece of music
Beethoven’s Sonata no.15
>favourite classical composer
Beethoven
>favourite jazz album (though I guess jazz could go in the later non-classical category I’ll give it a little credit)
A Love Supreme
>favourite jazz musician
Herbie Hancock, particularly the 60s stuff and the mwandishi trilogy
>favourite “popular” music album (ie non-classical music including all rock, folk, pop, metal, r&b, indie, etc etc; if you like some obscure grunge band from Estonia that still goes in this category, formal popularity is less important than the cultural context)
Midnite Vultures
>favourite “popular” musician (Same as previous)
Exuma
>favourite painting
Summer Luxuriance
>favourite painter
Rembrandt
I like Dutch painters the most, any good Dutch literature I should know about? Besides Spinoza, which is non-fiction.

It’s for kids, I’m going to read it with my children but for now I won’t spend my time reading children’s books, especially if I’m going to read them anyway in a few years.
