Overrated. Like Japanese films, it LOOKS like a novel but there's really no content. It's pure imitation of American or European models without anything inside, like a replicant out of Philip K Dick.

Our brains are capable of generating and remembering a self-symbol. So like when you point a live camera at its own feed, it starts that weird rushing expansion into a unified oneness.

Similarly, we are picking up our own feedback loop so quickly that it gels into waking life. Pic related is a goodish visual metaphor. Think of it like a sort of mental shutter speed, one that can capture its own lens (our senses).

Consciousness is a strange loop. The system supporting it ends when your blood stops getting oxygen to your brain. No loop, no you. Deaf, blind, no thoughts ever again? Sounds like nothing to me.

And no, muh infinity doesn't mean your you will occur again. There are different sets of infinities, eternal recurrence isn't necessary.

Tfw identity is fractal and can be map'd, charted—repeated in an out of sync sync —animating exploit'd words into a neural net's vision of ID —wow?

So your recommendation is based off of what then? Emergentism is bullshit. Hofstadter at least has an alarmingly well formed idea about howw consciousness works. Pic related.

Art Deco is the word ye'd use but yr a sci-fi enthusiast and don't know it so steampunk occurs to ye maybe, w/e ye'll work on it—big intricate arches glass instead if gold, shit, fuck, the mantis ppl are pretty rough—they're dragging ye, feet scrambling to speed walk w/em... Their leader marching in front turns his head to ye, big red composite eyes, yr horrified face reflected back at a thousand different angles. The mantis thing shakes his head at ye. Through the panic haze ye remember... drugs... datura? acid? what was it? Wha?

YOUR MEMORY HAS BEEN ERASED, the lead mantis scorpion announces. All plagiarism suspects have their organic dynamo memory drives erased until an outcome has been decided by:

beep......beep......beep......wha? Someone's hand is on yr arm... Are ye in a hospital bed? What the? Mom?

I dream abt putting ppls heads on stakes und ja zis is a good vay to unravel zee unconscious projections you use everyday by examining yr own interpretation of personally generated experiences. My name is Doktor Harrison Freud, AMA.

Pic related, it's Gödel, Escher, Bach in telephotic form so you don't have to read that door stopper.

Finally someone else read it...

Best horror book I've read. I think it's so good because he wrote it over a very long time and publicly. There is definitely a sadness that creeps in towards the end between David and Amy. There are a lot of really beautiful and hilarious parts to the book and it sucks that it's associated w/Cracked. I have never laughed so hard reading. He's funnier than Pinecone and DFW (who both make me laugh).

Best parts:
The painting in the trailer
the Jamaican guy
Amy getting switched out w/a mannequin for a split second
The neural-network meat computer timeline

Beware This Book is Full of Spiders: it blows. Nowhere near as much time went into it, it's nit funny, it has a decent end, but it's like he took a novel writing class and it shows. John Dies At the End is amazing because it ignores regular structure and pacing.
