Are there any top rated historic fiction books about Vikings akin to Shogun by Clavell for example?

I judge religion not by truth but by health. Truth is a rather tiresome way of judging things when scepticism rules supreme. There only remain pragmatic truths, as in: Things that work and things that don't work.

So a religion that tells you to kill your instincts and sit around like a pale hungry faggot who can't hurt the ants because then you're a baddy is wrong because it leads to decay.

A religion that spurs you on towards great self-improvement and fucking bitches and killing your enemies and live a hearty and strong life is is good because it leads to vitality.

From this point of view, I may add that Islam is superior to modern Western humanism and liberalism. People in the West are so obsessed with doing no harm and respecting and tolerating that they deserve to perish.

To quote a well known dicator:

"Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live."

Hey /lit/, this is my second post on this board - the prior being one about Thoreau's Walden which crashed in fire and smoke.

Anyway, for personal pleasure I am engaging in a multi-faceted study of Norse anthropology (mythology, music, art, but mostly literature).

tl;dr FUCKING VIKINGS NIGGA

Anyway, all things Norse may be placed in this thread; recommendations of all brands welcome.

Good day, my /lit/erate friends. I have come seeking a new book to read.

Let's keep this simple, shall we?

I am a fantasy fan. I am looking for fiction that is considered "mature" and "well-written." True, there is a lot of generic YA fantasy out there, but I am looking to avoid all of that.

I'd like to read a book that doesn't insult my intelligence.

Can /lit/ help me?

I'm in the process of trying to learn Norwegian (Bokmål). Does anyone know of any sites where you can order hard-copy versions of books in the Norwegian language that would ship to the US?

Greetings /lit/erates.

I'm looking for some recommendations for books on the topic of Nordicism. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a nazi of sorts either, by the way. I'm just interested in the topic.

Hey /lit/

I want to read some of the Norse stuff, the Eddas and all that. Problem is, when I find it, it's too expensive (Barnes & Noble), and I can't even begin to locate which section it belongs in at other places (Half-Price)

Any help here?

/lit/, maybe you can help me.

In high school I remember reading an older, fictional book about a middle eastern man that traveled to the land of the nords or vikings, I can't remember which.

I remember that during this man's stay he assisted them in fighting monsters, or was there to witness it, one of the two. The entire book was about them fighting said monsters. I think I vaguely remember mist being involved.

It's a pretty vague description, I've been goggling it, but I'm lost. Anyone have any idea of the what story I'm remembering?
