/lit/ - Literature

I'd be interested contemporary literature of this phenomenon - the politics based on identity first and foremost, it's evolution and reasoning as a cultural thing. I've come around plenty of material describing identity politics, but hardly any that actually explain why this all exist. What books should I read to approach as neutrally as possible identity play/politics/fantasy, whatever you wish to call it?
