I know this is kind of pleb but can we have a words thread? Like words you've learned recently, words you love or words that describe a feeling or action you've always wanted a word to describe

I just found out that "vexillology" refers to the study of flags and at this moment I'm euphoric. I also just learned "fustian" in the sense of pompous, pretentious language which renders it almost unusable unless you're doing so with a degree of irony.

So, what do you say, words thread? If you guys don't want to it's cool, I won't be hurt or anything.

As an aspiring writer, how do you plan to live your life, /lit/? How long can you drag this before finally giving up and committing yourself to a full-time job that will leave you no time to write at all?

I think I've pushed it as far as I can. I'm about to turn 25, my only job was at a bookstore that closed recently and I'm literally approaching poverty. I can still go back and finish my degree on computer science (or whatever you call it in the US) if I'm set on doing this for the rest of my life, but I'm not sure I am and I'm not sure I can do it.

The "struggling artist" life just start feeling humiliating at some point. I feel like a teenager when I talk to people I went to HS with, who are mostly employed and moving on. But I can't say I want their life - all they seem to do is work, sleep and get stuck on traffic between the two.

What choice have you made? Are you confident about it? How are things turning out?

You know when you're in your 20s, and you're like "gotta read all I can!" and then you look at people in their 40s and 50s who have followed this path and they all seem weird, fat and incredibly underachieving?

Does that ever make you wonder if you need other hobbies

When people around you who are ignorant in philosophy start talking about well-known schools/concepts of philosophy like Marxism or Nietzsche's Übermensch and they are getting everything wrong as usual do you even bother pointing out their mistakes and correcting them?

Or do you just sit back and watch it with an impotent look on your face like I do.

Never heard of him either.
Is he writing novels criticizing the Chinese government?

Because back in the first cold war saying shit about the Soviet Union was a guaranteed Nobel prize.
