Finally published the vampire book. I’ll go to the local book store tomorrow to follow up with the manager about when I can do a signing. Now I’m in full promotion mode. These people want me to have a full “online presence” and told me I need to have an Instagram and Twitter and Facebook author page. I don’t want those things. I’d rather be writing new stories. The effort it takes to upkeep those accounts sounds like an incredible waste of time

yeah... i didn't think it was important to slap a name on it just because i was working on a particular project. But yes, the story of Annabelle Booth, distillers daughter turned undead is both finished and being edited.

It’s mine actually.
It’s the story of an 1890’s bourbon distillers daughter getting bitten then abandoned by a vampire. Dracula wasn’t printed til 1897 so nobody knows what’s happening to Annabelle. Shit goes south and the distillery burns down killing her family and burying her alive in the rick house until a boy accidentally falls in the dilapidated ruins in 1994 and busts her out. The roles of renfield and Dracula are reversed as Miles now has to teach her how to survive. She in turn gives him peeks about what’s behind the veil of mortal sight. And best of all there’s no love story in the whole thing. Even 15 year old Julian van Winkle makes a small cameo. (Google pappy van winkle)
The original incarnation of the story didn’t have the vampire girl in it but it creates some fun opportunities and scenes to write.

Anyone know the status on this? Last I heard it was being edited.

A Kentucky Bourbon distillers daughter is bitten by a vampire in 1890. A series of events cause her to sleep for 100 years.

I’m meeting with an editor this weekend to sip bourbon and go over the notes on how to trim the word count.

Any updates on the bourbon vampire story?

I’ve got a competent friend editing my bourbon/Ky vampire book. After that her husband who’s a NYT bestseller says he’s got the ears of some people in the business who could be interested. Could be something but there’s no promises. Plotting the sequel now, I have about seven chapters finished

Sup guise? after seven months of hard work, my "coming of age in kentucky/vampire" book is done. at 470 pages and 135k words i know it will need some trimming in the editorial phase to make it leaner.
i'm celebrating by taking a week or so off to sip some bourbon and decompress before doing anything else.i'd like to write a companion piece. Anyway, i just wanted to say that if you're inspired you buckle down and put in the work you can finish your project as well. here's to you, litizens. don't let others or the voices in your head tell you that you cant write something.make the choice to make it a priority and do it. i believe charles bukowski summed it up best

i got some good news last night. a well published erotica and romance writer from my writers group said she was interested in the story of Annabelle and the others and offered to copy edit the book for me (something she normally charges like $1000 to do for the Carnegie center) with a gentleman's promise that i try and push it to get trad published for at least a year. i was thrilled she offered and I'm taking her up on it. she also said that if i fixed things after after she gave it the "red pen treatment" that she'd even pass it on to her husband who's a NYT bestseller author as well. We've known each other for over a decade and I've been to her bookstore signings and all so now i'm reaping the rewards of networking. could be something, might be nothing.
