/lit/ - Literature

I recall being very disinterested in writing and english and literature in general growing up. I always maintained a barely passing mark because I could care less about it. Now only as I've decided to do some courses to get into University I've only now discovered the beauty of literature, and reading and writing. I know plenty of other men who this has happened to as well. My younger brother (he is 13 years old) is the same way, I try to explain to him why he should try hard at it but ultimately the way he's being taught in school causes him to lose interest. How do we get young men interested in reading and writing earlier so they don't have to miss out on one of the greatest tools available to them /lit/?
