How can you be a serious theologian after Kant? It seems that people like Lane Craig and other debatelord theists (jay dyer) have never read Kant or just don't care about what he had to say about metaphysics. Why don't people read Kant?

How come everyone knows him, but no one reads him? How many times have I come across students of philosophy who have not even cracked open his Critique! Schopenhauer himself said that people who have not read Kant are like children and have not reached maturity. Reading Kant will cause your intellectual rebirth. Here is what Schopenhauer says.

>"It alone (reading Kant) is capable of really removing the inborn realism which arises from the original disposition of the intellect... In consequence of this, the mind undergoes a fundamental undeceiving, and thereafter looks at all things in another light."

If you do not read Kant you will continue to think erroneous things (like assuming theoretical reasoning can come to the conclusion of God, which is the opinion of so-many theists these days, which reveals how desperately we are in need of Kant).

So I've been reading Prolegomena along with some of the relevant sections of The Critique over the past few weeks and I wonder if it's possible to delve deep into Kant's metaphysics and epistemology without paying too much attention to his ethics and moral philosophy? The former looks - so far - way more interesting and relevant than the latter.

I think it’s based on this pic. It’s not that recognizable, but I think that’s what the original poster intended.

I'm interested in reading Kant. What are the required readings to understand him? I've read all of Plato's works, Aristotle's essentials (Organon, Physics, De Anima, Metaphysics, Ethics), and Descartes (For Direction, On the Understanding, and Meditations). I've heard Hume is necessary for the context, but I've also read that Schopenhauer exclusively read Plato and Kant and was able to grasp Kant no problem.

Do you think I am ready?

Reddit recommends to starts with the Prolegomena before attempting to read his first Critique
Is this a good plan or should I go straight for the Critique of Pure Reason?

What's the best translation of Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals?
I was thinking about getting Cambridge version, but there are others that are like 10 bucks cheaper.

Nietzsche's an edgy literary figure.

Kant is a true emphatic philosopher's philosopher.

I think they ought to have a status as something between full personhood as things. In this way, we would be morally obligated (a) not to kill a person to save non-human animas and (b) not to sacrifice animals to save non-living things. Dat modified formula of humanity.

Kant is the best philosopher ever and Hegel is maybe half as good. There is no and never will be any competition.
