I'm really not one to complain about violence in any medium and no one with a basic grasp of American history would argue that the wild West wasn't just as violent as McCarthy depicts it as being, but this scene seemed very pointless and gratuitous to me. It's described in a short paragraph and then literally the next sentence is a completely different setting, never to be mentioned again. What's the point?

I feel you, OP. I have about half of McCarthy's work published in the style of my picture. The cover designs in these editions were mostly pretty photographs, the font for the title and author was clean and simple. Before I could complete my collection of all his books they changed to this new cover design, which I despise. And now the spines won't match on my bookshelf. It's petty, I know. But I care about book aesthetics.

Hey lit. I just got through rereading this ( twice in a week) and I would love to get some of your thoughts on it.
I personally feel that it is an excellent analysis of violence,the uses thereof, and has a very Moby Dick feel to it.
Agree/disagree?

Hey /lit/, I've read some McCarthy before, so I thought about giving this one a try. It seems a lot more dense to get into. What's your guys' opinion on this in comparison to his other works?
