Which book is the exact opposite of American Psycho?

I would say American Psycho is my favorite novel, but I don't see it get a lot of attention, despite my belief that it's pretty mainstream.

I find it an extremely interesting and atypical postmodern novel, and it is a pity how the book was reviewed before it even released. tl;dr brutal scenes were leaked before release and feminists screamed "misogyny" before the reading the book.

If you have read the book, what do you think about the themes and how they are portrayed, such as the Patty Winters show used to portray Bateman's sanity. Also, do you really think it was all in Patrick's head like the movie suggests?

>Suddenly he felt some knowledge he had hidden even from himself hit him like a brick. Patrick Bateman was sitting in his apartment while the door knocked, and he said to himself "After all these things, I have finally become American Psycho." THE END.
What the fuck?

Do people actually enjoy this heaping pile of garbage? I mean, it's quite literally pitter patter throughout the entire novel, in between the autistic ramblings of Bateman and his escapades which I highly doubt even occurred in the first place.

I'm disappointed.

I know it's unfair to compare it to the movie, but it just feels like a much tidier story. Every scene has a point and connects to another in some way.

The book just seems to ramble on and on about how fucked up Bateman is, shit we already know. It becomes a drag.

Was this suppose to be hilarious? I had to stop reading it on the train because I'd constantly be in titters and it'd attract attention. I genuinely broke into a vocal fucking guffaw when I read
>when I look over at Luis in one brief flashing moment his head looks like a talking vagina and it scares the bejesus out of me

Anyone else have this reaction? I honestly can't tell if its intentional.

Is this book still worth reading?
I'm already familiar with other transgressive literature. I also enjoyed the film, watched it like 5 times.
