Nihilism isn't a particular philosophy edgy teens chose to believe in. It's part and parcel of modernity, nobody who lives in modernity can truly escape it. That doesn't mean that self described nihilists aren't nihilists but most nihilists aren't aware that they are nihilists. And it also doesn't mean that some people aren't more nihilistic than others, but everyone is to a certain degree provided that they live in the modern world.

Even "traditional catholics" and the likes look like hedonistic degenerates compared to the their predecessors, they watch porn, Netflix and so on. They can't isolate themselves from the nihilistic world that surrounds them.
