I'm interested in Neoplatonism but can someone explain how dualism can possibly be true?
Monism/nondualism makes much more sense to me. Will reading the Enneads help?

I know the feeling well anon, I will try my best. I will take a neoplatonic view to explain. Think of you animalistic nature, the part of you hungers, desires etc. This is your ego, it is what roots you the matieral. It is not rational, it is the lower part of you. Your true self is the part that exists above your animalistic side, the one that contemplates what is higher than yourself, the nature of reality etc. A core part of becoming more enlightened is learning to control the ego, and make sure it does not dominate you, that way you can focus on the divine.
