Is Gene Wolfe actually one of the greatest writers of all time or is he just a /lit/ meme?

I think less of people who enjoy this author's works.

He served in the korean war. Does anyone know if he killed anyone?

Would he have been considered an all-time great writer if he had written in another genre?
The Book of the New Sun + Urth of the New Sun are so unbelievably well written.

What is the most /lit/ way to die?

Personally, I crack myself a lot; knuckles, toes, back, neck. I find it very satisfying. An instantaneous release of pressure, a nice pop. Not much in life is so simple.

I've always imagined that some day I'll get carried away, and crack my neck with a bit too much force. I like to imagine it happening on a crowded sidewalk. To me: an accident. To the outside observer: a man decides he's had enough of life, and ends it right there in one confident motion, dropping dead in the middle of the crowd.

BotNS obviously. Cringy, "intellectual", plated with religious imagery, but completely lacking internal substance or original thought.
