Not bad. I've never been one for fantasy in literature (preferring such genres for anime, TV, etc), but this is easy to get into.

Jim Butcher's "The Dresden Files"

The first book being "Storm Front" (see pic)

It's about a Wizard who works as a private eye in modern day Chicago. Good stuff, reads like an old Noir Detective novel, with a magical twist.

His other series "Codex Alera" is also pretty good, but isn't necessarily wizardly fare.

Anyone else on /lit/ read the Dresden Files? Thoughts? I'm three books in and absolutely hooked, while it may not be the "deepest" series I've ever read the characters, setting and premise are extremely engaging.

I've sort of run out of books recently. I've got Dune still, but that's it.

Should I read these?

What the fuck is this shit, /lit/? FINALLY, you got me to start reading The Dresden Files, and it's pathetic.

The corny remarks that are made throughout the novel are not funny, and are obviously aimed at the younger teen age bracket.

Why do you love it so much? Does it get better?

Really, it's too corny for me...

I do wish I tried reading it a few years back.

Just finished this and was not very impressed.

Does the series get better as it goes along?
