So I just finished this along with Fall of Hyperion and I'm on a bit of a Dan Simmons kick, what else do you guys recommend?

I'm thinking of checking out of The Terror to close out the summer.

Also apparently they're adapting Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion for the big screen.

This is the best book I've read in my life.

Good: The producers of "Ender's Game" may have finally found a decent choice to play Ender. BAD: They see the Ender series as "the next Harry Potter franchise"

That cover is pretty bland, honestly. Admittedly, so's the one on my copy. But I'm okay with that. That Shrike looks to insectoid.

As for its purpose, I thought it was a time police sort of thing. Making sure things happen the right way.

bought this the other day as I've been meaning to read it for a while, but then stumbled across a review that mentions one of the main characters as a catholic priest.

As someone who has seen a lot of things fucked up by religion and am quite active in my atheism, I don't want to waste my time if this ends up full of pro-catholic crap.

So tell me, am I wasting my time? Am I going to have religious bullshit shoved into my face if I give this a go?

Anyone have any suggestions for a good next book?

Should I read The Canterbury Tales before I read Hyperion?

I preferred the Space Edition.

Just finished the first book of this, and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what happens.

I don't come to this board very often, but I'd like know, what do you guys think of Dan Simmons and his Hyperion tetra-logy?
I'm reading this atm, and it just keeps getting more and more interesting.

I'm about to read Hyperion. Before I start though, is it worth reading the rest of the series? I mean, Hyperion can be read just by outself without missing anything right?

I've heard the rest of the series osn't so good. . .

finished reading the hyperion saga, also ending with the ilium saga by dan simmons, read the stories from worlds enough and time... so what should i read next?

for those who dont know, the hyperion is sci-fi bible rewritten in a more epic way, ilium is the iliad also set in the future but with the same heroes and main storyline, just with more alien powers and nanotech olympian gods...

I have not had my mind blown away by a book so many times before. I honestly had to put the book down at points because I was laughing so hard at how fucking... incredible the events were. The fucking twists man! THE FUCKING TWISTS!

I mean, SHIT! This book, this whole series. Just amazing. Hyperion is a radiant star in its own right, then Fall comes along and just throws wacked out shit at you left and right. I'm thinking "what the FUCK is this guy gonna do with all of this stuff. I mean, some of this shit is practically space-FANTASY"

I'm about 150 pages into this and I'm really enjoying it.

I've read in several reviews that a lot of people really dislike Hoyt's tale. What the fuck? I thought it was great. It could definitely stand on its own as a short story without being part of a larger novel.
