I'm looking for fantasy recommendations that feel actually fantastical.
Something that actually captures the feeling of being in an alien dimension the human mind is utterly bewelildered at.
Take something like the phantom tollbooth, I know it's a childrens novel and most of the stuff is just wordplay, but it's full of things that seem so utterly foreign to any dimension we know of, like islands you can instantly jump to by thinking in conclusions or an orchestra who's playing creates all the colors of the world.
I guess it would be surrealistic but I don't want strange for the sake of strange and incomprehensible, I want strange that works in the world it is written for, strange because it is so foreign to our world and utterly fantastical.
