My wife wants me to read this book (and ostensibly the two books following).
But I'm a few chapters in, and it's kind of a slog.

Why am I having such a hard time getting into it?

Probably not the most accurate subject name but oh well.

I'm currently reading The Golden Compass. It is frequently described as the Anti-Narnia because of its criticism of organized religion. I find it really interesting after having read The Chronicles at a young age.

Please share any other "anti-novels" or novels that were written as a response to others in this thread.
