it's just a chinese language thing.
"little" is spelled "xiao". the translator probably just translated the names like this so the reader doesn't have to remember even MORE dumb chinese names like that.

Start with the Greeks, specifically Plato. Pick up a copy of 'The trial and death of Socrates' or something like that, the one that contains Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, Phaedo, and Meno. It may be called the five dialogues, who knows. He's a good place to start because, while his style is atypical, he does present the basic style of philosophical enquiry (argument and counter-arguement) and all the topics of philosophy (epistemology, metaphysics, ontology, ethics, aesthetics, politics, kinda logic though not formally) in a way that presumes no prior knowledge, yet often gets at fundamental problems that are still discussed. If you read those five dialogues and the like them, come back to /lit/ and ask for more recommendations. If you don't like them, well, philosophy might not be for you, but it may still be worth trying something else out. Good luck!

If you're thinking about reading Murakami it will probably be worth it reading at least one of his books. If you like it you can read more (they're all the same), and if you don't you can shitpost about him on lit (always fun). I would recommend Norwegian Wood, and it also helps if you've been to Japan or if you're into Jap cinema.
