it holds up but Chomsky didn't realize he was part of the machinery all along. Read about Moldbug's cathedral

>The point is that the Ai produces socially apropiate responses and those responses on itself are "accurate enough" to replace blind faith.

right. and so, this is why there is this cultural/intellectual civil war going on, which is a referendum on liberalism. what constitutes the socially appropriate, and in vision of civilization what subsequently are we to place our faith in? texas has a different vision of what constitutes the socially appropriate than does california. it seems unlikely that they are going to be able to square the circle.

back in the day, geography was sufficient (and may be again, someday, perhaps). you could live one way in the red states and another in the blue, but still be americans in the end. the internet, i think, has taken everything that television did to society in the 60s and 70s - bringing the vietnam war into the living room - and switched that all around. now people are hyperaware of their neighbours instead and it's making everybody go berserk. and that is combined with the dawning suspicion about the gated institutional narrative - or, in moldbuggian terms, the Cathedral.

now once upon a time it was the task of continental philosophy to expose and uproot The Oppression In Society, which indeed it did, very much so. the thing is that the revolutionaries became the hegemons, and hegemons are always unwilling to give up their power afterwards. and then 2016 happened.

now personally, i would say that the deal is not to get mad at The Cathedral anymore than it makes sense to endorse it. cultures - ideospheres - have their own sensibilities. it makes absolute sense to me that a given intellectual culture would Cathedralize for the same reasons that a corporation would seek monopoly control. it works the same way. problems only emerge when cathedrals come into conflict with each other. there isn't really only one Cathedral, there's lots of them. the term Cathedral itself is used pejoratively to describe blue-state cultural apparatus, and in contrast you have the redpill; tradition, mannerbund, all of this other stuff that was trump's intellectual braintrust in the election (and was cooking well before that).

the problem is that america may be for the time being too small to share. there are no more Heroic Revolutionaries Fighting Oppression anymore, as recent news stuff shows. there are brutal black-clad roughnecks on either side of the political spectrum terrorizing each other.

so the question about what constitutes the socially appropriate is fecking enormous. and things are so hypersensitive right now that it's almost impossible to talk about it, people get deplatformed instead. so either cooler heads are going to prevail or there's going to be a divorce, which could be a good thing.

but learning how human beings collectivize will be a necessary project. we are different like that. but LARPing star wars IRL is only going to lead to anger, mistrust, disappointment, and rage.
>sad!
