Isn't Secularism just replacing religion with a set of liberal values that serve as its equivalent from a social perspective? Just look at how most atheists are greatly concerned with democracy, human rights and shit like that.

Haha this quote is such a standard feminist saying.

I don't know how things are going in the US/UK but where I live center-left news outlets and journals and online communities are all intoxicated with feminism and at least 20% of the writings we now see are about how left-wing men preach one thing and do another when it comes to women.

Young leftist girls are always writing huge texts about some alleged "self-proclaimed feminist dude" who hits his girlfriend or does some other horrible sexist stuff and, of course, she refuses to name the person, almost as if he didn't exist.

It's almost kind of funny how they don't realise they're basically falling for the Right's narrative of "put your money where you money is" and placing individuated actions over structural reform with this incessant policing of how well we apply to the real world "principles" we never really spoused in the first place.

Every month we have this thread, and we I'm willing to bet that no one has ever developed the habit of listening to a podcast they found in these threads because people here only drop their names and don't even say what they're about.

I wrote down all the names from the previous thread and It'd take me hours and hours to even get an idea of what they're about or what format they use.

What are some authors who write about the ignorance and stupidity of the masses and the "regular joe" so I can read them and feel better about my lack of achievements?

The problem with you guys is that you actually make a correct diagnosis of the problem and then work towards the worst possible solution.

Nobody will ever accept monogamous purity as the model for relationships again, and the more you act like an asshole towards women the easier it will be for them to stereotype you with MRA types and simply dismiss you as "men mad over loss of privilege"

You need a new language and a new way of fighting this shit

Do you guys really think we should bother that much with the humanities in schools?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not coming from a STEM undergrad science-is-the-only-thing-worth-doing angle here, I've just been thinking about the subject and the reality is, the teaching of certain subjects does not work so well in practice as in theory, and despite having noble goals (get people into reading, critical thinking, philosophizing, etc) it often has almost the opposite effect of what they wanted to achieve.

I also think maybe there's some justice in leaving philosophy and literature to a minority. It's like religion, you need to reach out for it on your own or it doesn't work. Instead of conforming complex thinkers and deep artists into a concise paragraph of text that a bunch of thick, uninterested students can "grasp", we should leave them for people who care.

"Readers are leaders" and so on and we're trying to make everyone leaders here. There are some knowledge that should only belong to a few.
