I've reached chapter 9 and I feel like I need to pause to really consider what has actually been said so far in this book.
>The conception of interacting and becoming in touch with the transcendent dimension of being from within oneself.
>There are gods, but no God - A God that is beyond good and evil - A God that you are one and the same with
>"It is the antithesis of an arrogant hardening of the physical individuality in all its forms, whether unilaterally Stoic or Nietzschean. Instead, it is the conscious activation in oneself of the 'other' principle and of its strength, in experiences, moreover, that are not merely undergone but also sought"
>"In an epoch of dissolution, this is the essential basis of a vision of life that is appropriate for the man reduced to himself, who must prove his own strength. Its counterpart is to be central or to make oneself so, to know or discover the supreme identity with oneself. It is to perceive the dimension of transcendence within, and to anchor oneself in it, making of it the hinge that stays immobile even when the door slams (an image from Meister Eckhart)."

Being someone who has struggled like many countless people with the existential problems of today and always feeling a certain "something" that is missing in the works of people like Nietzsche. Sensing that there is something more but not being able to comprehend it. It's just difficult to understand since books like these don't attract a whole lot of attention and what little they do, is often very negative; which limits the possibility for discussion. So I'm hoping /lit/ could offer that possibility.

I'm a third of the way through this and the first part was really promising but the criticisms of Neitzche & Sartre are really uninteresting. Is it worth slogging thru that part?

Julius Evola - Ride the tiger
A must read but better read it after "Revolt against the modern world"

>In particular, an important factor has been the mutilated character of Christianity when compared to the majority of other traditional forms; mutilated, because it does not possess an "esotericism," an inner teaching of a metaphysical character beyond the truths and dogmas of the faith offered to the common people. The extensions represented by sporadic experiences that are simply "mystical" and little understood cannot make υρ for this essential lack in Christianity as a whole.
So Origen, Pseudo-Dionysius, Augustine, Bonaventure, and Palamas weren't esoteric... What the fuck is he talking about? Ffs even Bataille acknowledged the genuine depth in Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross.

Despite all the memes this book is pretty good. The mindset it evokes is like a modern version of a pratyekabuddha, one who attempts to achieve enlightenment on their own without the aid of a community to guide them. The best way to do this is to ignore all convential morality that is peddled today for there is nothing about it that is transcendent, it has been reduced to a mere social formality.

He also points out some aspects of modern culture that may be of use on one's quest which is fitting because as long as the human condition is limited to a finite body, placed in particular social context, one can only use the tools that are available to him.
