Anyone else just stop reading fiction, and find it underwhelming? I just don't care about what happens to the characters. I read lots of fiction and I was fascinated by the worldbuilding, but eventually I just realized that the social sciences and history do ONLY that, and don't waste time on characters I don't care about. For example, I enjoyed GRRM's books about the world of Ice and fire more than I actually liked the main books (which were fun to read).
