Maybe you should try Demascus by Joshua Mohr, its not really quirky ike that, but it's great contemporary lit.
Also, maybe read The Snow Whale by John Minichillo, it's being sold as a 'modern re-telling of moby dick' but it's not really.
I like Christopher Boucher's how to keep your volkswagen alive. But you may see it as quirky because 'lol his son is a 1956 volkswagen beetle.'

I dreamt that I was living in a New York Apartment with Tegan and Sara last night. Sara adored me and we were pretty friendly, but Tegan hated me and turned everything I said into meaning something misogynistic.
