I like Zizek a lot, but he is pretty clueless when it comes to Deleuze. There are much better critics of his, such as Badiou and his cohort. Still worth a read though.

You could watch The Perverts guide to Ideology, it's probably the easiest entry point for a broad overview of his ideas.
Unfortunately his theoretical stuff references Lacan a lot, and he's notoriously obtuse. Although Ziz does have a very good book How to Read Lacan, which helped me get the lay of the land, it's helpful for reading Zizek's stuff too.
Ultimately his more pop-political stuff is what's accessible to newcomers, but with a little footwork you can get into the theory (which IMO is much more interesting and uniquely Zizek). The Sublime Object of Ideology is very good, but you might need a couple tries with some background to get into it
