Can we talk about Knut Hamsun?

I think he's extremely under-appreciated. I'm sure it's because of his association with Nazism, but that doesn't detract from the value of his work, in my opinion.

After reading a lot of his stuff—particularly Hunger, Mysteries, and Pan—I think he's on par with Dostoevsky.

Me too bro. Even that failure of a tryst between the protagonist and Ylailai in Hunger was too much for my wizard feels

Hunger was the most aimless and repititive work of fiction I read in recent memory. Could someone explain the appeal? It was like Kafka without the allegory or Nausea without the overarching imagery. Also this guy looks like a Bond villain.

What is good of his? I've already read Hunger, Pan, and just ordered Growth of the Soil.

Can we discuss this terrific Scandinavian author? What's your favorite Hamsun novel?

I haven't looked over /pol/'s list, but I imagine they just included pretty much anyone remotely racist. Anyway, most artists tend to be left-wing, but in the past (pre-WWII), the relationship between art and left-wing politics was a lot weaker. Off the top of my head, here are some examples of prominent right-wing authors:

Fyodor Dostoevsky
H.P. Lovecraft
Charles Baudelaire
T. S. Eliot
Ezra Pound
Knut Hamsun
Louis-Ferdinand Céline
Ernst Junger
D.H. Lawrence
Vladimir Nabokov
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Nikolai Gogol
Evelyn Waugh
H.L. Mencken
